Aurora Gonzales Arredondo

Born April 21, 1932 went to be with the Lord after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease Monday August 1, 2016 in Portland, TX at the age of 84.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed. “Grandma”, as she was known to all, was a compassionate and elegant woman who will be remembered by her family for her laughter and her delicious meals. Many of her recipes will be treasured.  The meals most missed will be her Christmas and New Year’s dinners, which included her exquisite tamales.  She was always the life of the party.  We will always remember her joyful spirit as she loved to dance with our dad and instinctively began to move at the sound of music.

She has now joined the love of her life who preceded her in death, her husband of 55 years, Sixto Arredondo, Sr.  She is also preceded by her first born Sixto, Jr., her parents Federico Gonzales and Juana Avila Gonzales, and 16 siblings.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved children, sons Daniel Arredondo (Mary), Marco Arredondo (Nora), Adam Arredondo (Doris), her daughter Annette Burnell, daughter-in-law Rossy Arredondo, and grandchildren Sean (Kristen), April (Charles), Ariel (Rolando), Zane (Robin), Jackie (Ben), Daryl, and 3 great-grandchildren Calix, Adara and Veda Aurora, and her sisters Maria Perez and Elida (Porfirio) Trevino, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Daniel, Marco, Adam, Sean, Daryl, Zane Arredondo, Gary Leal and Rolando Rosales. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe and Lupe Arredondo and Ben Garza.

Visitation will be held Thursday, the 4th of August 2016, beginning at 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.  Thursday  within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
